The climate on Komodo Island is tropical, and is based on an alternating wet and dry season. During the months of January, February, March, and the beginning of April, is the rainy season. The Komodo weather during these months typically includes between thirty one and thirty nine inches of rain. The rest of  the year is tropically dry and arid. The temperatures of the island during the summer months gets up to one hundred and ten degrees Fahrenheit (forty three degrees Celsius) and the cooler months will dip down to about sixty two degrees Fahrenheit (seventy degrees Celsius).

The weather on Komodo Islands differs slightly from other areas of Indonesia. The dry season is slightly longer, and the months of the wet season are slightly different. The wet season in the Komodo National Park begins in the month of November and runs through March though this tends to be in the Northern part of the park. The months between April and October, are the dry season and are prone to be extremely arid, this means that water can become scarce during these months. During the dry season and the summer months, there is typically a cool ocean breeze, which helps to alleviate the extreme temperatures that can soar up to one hundred and ten degrees Fahrenheit, forty four degrees Celsius. If you plan to make your trip during the dry season, it is very important that you are aware of the water restrictions, and respect the usage conservation in the area. During these months you will find a lack of humidity as well, further making the temperatures more manageable and bearable.

The Best time to Visit Komodo Island:

June and July are great months to visit Komodo. The waters tend to be more calm for getting there and away. The winds are present, but not very strong, making the days very pleasant and the nights slightly cool.

The Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia weather, is more distinct. This area has a defined wet and dry season, as opposed to Komodo weather, and the mainland Indonesian weather. During the months of April through October you will find the area is very dry, with cooler temperatures during the evening hours. During the early morning and afternoon the temperatures are at a comfortable sixty five to seventy degrees, with the later afternoon reaching around ninety to ninety five degrees. There is always a cool ocean breeze throughout the year in this region. These temperatures can be found in the Lesser Sunda Islands all year round, providing a true tropical island climate.

The transition between wet and dry seasons can vary slightly, in a response to the weather pattern changes that affect Indonesia. Overall you will find that Komodo weather is pleasant and comfortable. Even during the dry seasons you will be able to obtain bottled water. Do not let the lack of water during the dry seasons detour your visit to this magnificent island and it’s surrounding areas throughout Indonesia. No matter what time of year you decide to visit Indonesia, the Komodo weather will not disappoint. The best Komodo Diving is in July and the best Komodo Snorkeling is in April

Komodo Weather: Driest Region of Indonesia

Komodo benefits from a humid and hot climate all year round. It is however one of the driest regions of Indonesia: the arid soil and the limited vegetation in this zone contrasts with all other islands of the archipelago. The temperature varies from 20°C to 40°C. The dry season is from April to November and the wet season from November to March with more rain in the months of January and February. There can sometimes be showers in the dry season but these are of a short duration and generally at the end of the day.
